Aiiit, so this is the finished product that I slammed down today for our upcoming Roost exclusive snapback caps. Props to our very own Nick McCosker for letting me use his font “Carton” for the R.

“Where do broken hearts go?” 2012
My mother used to be a singer, who I think drew a lot of her musical influences from Whitney Houston amongst others. Most of my childhood memories with me and mum consist of her playing Whitney’s albums in the house and on car trips and sometimes just her singing them to me as kid.
As a child, I was privy to liking EVERYTHING my mother would often sing and listen to and so naturally, I became fond of Whitney too.
An 8-year old me would sing and frolic about and imitate my mother belting out her Whitney renditions. Yeah… I too would’ve bullied the shit out of the 8-year old filipino kid rockin’ The Bodyguard’ soundtrack in his walkman.
But say what you want about that, there is no denying that she had one of the most astounding voices in music history.
Anyways, the news of Whitney’s death came as a surprise to me as I’m sure it did to most people. I felt obligated to do this quick little tribute piece for me, ma and to the memory of Whitney. Thanks for the memories. Just somethin’ personal.
